The three ESIA reports below were conducted in preparation of LADP Phase II implementation including:
1) Proposed Construction of Medium Voltage (500kVA, 11/0.4KV) electrical distribution line from the tapping point through the road reserve (Right-of-Way) to Rusumo Water Treatment Plant located at Nyakahanga Hamlet, Rusumo Village, Rusumo Ward, Ngara District in Kagera Region.
2) Construction of Medium Voltage (100kVA, 11/0.4KV) electrical distribution line from the tapping point along Rusumo trunk road through the road reserve to Rusumo Health Centre with the distance of 0.5km.
3) Construction of Medium Voltage (50kVA, 33/0.4KV) electrical distribution line from the tapping point through the road reserve to Ngara High School with the distance of 3.4km.
LADP is a benefit sharing program designed to enhance regional economic and social development in the project areas in Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania.
All the construction activities will be carried out in Ngara District under Local Area Development Program (LADP II) funded with World Bank through NELSAP.

The ESIA report assesses the environmental and social impacts associated with the power plant component, which is one of a number of components which make up the Rusumo Falls Hydroelectric Project. The ESIA and RAP assessment of the Transmission Lines component are included in a separate report. The objective of the Rusumo Falls Hydroelectric Project is to develop hydroelectric power and regional transmission connecting Burundi, Rwanda and Northwest Tanzania, and support local area development and benefit sharing activities in the area of the dam and transmission lines. The Project is part of an overall Kagera Basin Integrated Development Framework, which is part of the Nile Basin Initiative. For details refer to the attached report
