Summary

The overall completion status of the hydro plant is approaching 50 % for CP1 (Civil Contractor) and CP2 (Electromechanical Contractor) combined. In summary, this information is based on work progress within the intake structure, spillway structure, HRT works, powerhouse construction and hydro-mechanical design, equipment and installations. Powerhouse construction is advancing within the service bay block, while draft tube casting continues. At the power intake, the concreting of all five passes is complete, embedded part installations continue. Trash rack assembly continues. Spillway embedded part installation continue within three bay. HRT works are progressing slowing using mechanical means. Drill and blast works to recommence soon. At the Switchyard, excavation for foundation have progressed and CP2 Contractor continues with earthing installations. Construction of permanent residential buildings at the Powerhouse and Switchyard sites continues.

Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for hydro mechanical equipment have been performed in China with CP2, FAT work for electrical overhead travelling crane have been conducted in India.

Contract Package 1 (CP1), CGCOC-JWHC JV for Civil Works

Embedded stop-log gate and radial gate guide work continues, while gate sill beams are in position and secondary concrete placement preparation continues for both the intake structure and spillway. Trask rack assembly continues in preparation for installation in front of the Intake. Preparation to install hydro-mechanical equipment continues. Spillway passages 1, 2 & 3 are complete. Preparation to install hydro-mechanical equipment continues. Construction of the fourth spillway passage will commence after Phase 2 Diversion is complete. Upstream apron and sediment extractor are now complete. The intake control building wall and roof slab are complete.

Powerhouse, Inlet Chamber and Penstock: Concreting at Inlet Chamber is on-going, casting of concrete for the powerhouse sump is now complete, and the Service Bay block construction continues. Unit 3 draft tube is ready to receive concrete above the elbow. Unit 1 bottom slab is now cast. Formwork erection continuing in preparation to place the top slab. Unit 2 base slab reinforcement preparation nearly complete. In summary, progress in Powerhouse, Inlet Chamber and Penstock are now at approximately 3% - in terms of concrete quantity from the BOQ of 44,275 m3.

Crusher Plant No. 2 is now fully operational and supplements the existing crusher plant. Quarry rock from the access road to the powerhouse is being excavated to feed both crushers. Concrete fine aggregate continues to be received from the river side borrow area.

Switchyard: The armor stone erosion wall construction is now complete. Excavation for earthing and cable trenches and gantry foundations are on-going. The switchyard control room building slab and wall are now complete.

Tunnel Excavation: CP1 is adjusting his drill and blast works and is preparing to recommence HRT work in the near future. Tunnel excavation using mechanical means continues at the upstream side of the tunnel, in vibration sensitive areas. Excavation from the downstream face will recommence soon, and production is expected to improve.

Powerhouse Residential Camp. Work within the camp continues, while installation of kitchen cabinetry remaining outstanding. Road and yard works continue. Erection of water towers continues, while drilling for permanent water now complete. Work continues on piping to provide water under the main road, from the new well to the camp site.

Contract Package 2 (CP2), Andritz Hydro GmbH (Germany) and Andritz Hydro PVT Ltd (India) (CP2) for Electromechanical Works

Powerhouse, Inlet chamber and Penstock: Progress includes drilling holes for earthing rods and laying copper conductors continues, installation of dewatering pipes for both the draft tube and penstock are now installed, and pressure tested. Instrumentation installation for Unit 3 now complete, including a handover of these work areas to CP1 for concreting. Steel pier nose within draft tube is now installed in Unit 1.

Storage Area, Worker’s Camp and work area: Storage house and storage area now complete, offloading and storage of delivered material comprising of spiral casing and Stay Rings continues. Worker’s camp now commissioned.

Works Abroad: The Design and Engineering progress rate is of 87%, the purchasing is at 82%, the manufacturing is at 82%, the dispatch and shipment is at 37%.
