Rwanda Eastern Province Governor Visits Rusumo Project
The Rwanda Eastern Province Governor, CG Emmanuel K. Gasana and Kirehe District Mayor, Mr. Bruno Rangira visited the Regional Rusumo Falls Hydroelectric Project on October 11, 2022 to take stock of the construction progress implemented by NELSAP on behalf of Rusumo Power Company Limited (RPCL) for the governments of Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania.
The high-level visitors were welcomed by the Project Electromechanical Engineer, Eng. Anicet Nsengiyumva on behalf of Project Management. Eng. Anicet said that “the overall progress is close to 96.7 % as of September 2022, with civil works at 98.5% and the electro-mechanical works at 94%”. The Project is funded by the World Bank and is expected to be completed by June 2023.
The Project Electromechanical Engineer took the visitors around the main Project’s construction sites including the power intake and the switchyard.
